Project Analysis and Approval Directorate of City Hall boosts productivity despite 21% higher demand
The Project Analysis and Approval Directorate of the Municipal Planning and Urbanism Secretariat (SMPU) of Foz do Iguaçu reduced the volume of processes awaiting analysis by 48.5% in less than four months. The backlog fell from 371 to 191 processes, even with 882 new protocols recorded during the period.

The reorganization of internal flows began in mid‑February 2026. In the same period, the team released 668 approvals and permits, increasing the sector’s response speed.
Although demand grew 21% compared with the same period in 2025, productivity rose. Director Márcia Porto attributes the result to changes in internal management and standardization of procedures.
With eight analysts and one staff member dedicated to issuing permits, the sector implemented uniform technical criteria and continuous monitoring of indicators. This brought greater predictability for engineers, architects and entrepreneurs who depend on approvals.
The Planning and Urbanism Secretariat continues working to further reduce analysis times. According to the directorate, when licensing operates efficiently, the entire city benefits: professionals, entrepreneurs and the population.
