What a holiday is worth · official data
Direct answer: Long weekends leave Foz hotels nearly full: occupancy jumps from the month's normal pace to the 76-95% range. The biggest jump is Labor Day (May 1): from 57% of rooms taken in an ordinary month to 81% over the holiday. The exception is Christmas, the only extended holiday that does NOT fill the city.
Foz's Tourism Secretariat has measured hotel occupancy for every extended holiday since 2021, including hoteliers' expectations before each one. This page crosses that official data with the monthly average and shows what a long weekend really does to the city.

How to read: the numbers are the share of rooms taken. Example: on May 1st, 81% of Foz's rooms are occupied, versus 57% across an ordinary May. Average of measured years (2021-2026, SMTU); comparison month excludes 2021.
Expectation × reality
Before each extended holiday, SMTU asks hotels how full they expect to be, and reality almost always beats the guess. On Labor Day (May 1), for instance, they expected 73% of rooms taken and got 81%. The city fills up MORE than its own hoteliers predicted.

Method & backing
Primary source: Extended-Holiday Occupancy Study (SMTU Foz/DVEET), realized and expected rate per holiday, years 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026. Comparison: monthly average from the Monthly Occupancy Study (ex-2021). Holidays with few measured years are flagged. Movable holidays compared with their typical month.
