Ecotourism guide with parks, aquarium and refuge
On October 20, 2026, Visit Iguaçu released options for tours to observe wildlife in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná. The guide lists sites such as Parque Nacional do Iguaçu, Parque das Aves, AquaFoz and Refúgio Biológico Bela Vista.

Parque Nacional do Iguaçu – The park protects wildlife in a free-range environment, without enclosures. The most common animals are coatis, especially on the Trail of the Falls, as well as birds such as toucans, parrots, toucans (surucuás) and swifts, and butterflies that appear during the hotter periods. Capuchin monkeys, agoutis, tapirs, felines and lizards such as the teiú can also be seen. The jaguar inhabits the park, but sightings are rare. Trails range from easy to moderate, with highlights including the Trail of the Falls, the São João Circuit (2.8 km, about 80 min) and more secluded paths like Poço Preto and Bananeiras, recommended for birdwatching.

It houses more than 1,400 birds of over 130 species, including macaws, toucans, parakeets and jacutinga, as well as butterflies and reptiles. The visit lasts 2 to 3 hours, accompanied by educators who explain the characteristics of each species. The site also features a food complex with vegetarian, vegan and dishes based on edible wild plants (PANCs).
AquaFoz – 350 m from the park, the aquarium covers 23,000 m² across three climate-controlled floors, containing roughly 3.3 million liters of water and 300 aquatic species. The route showcases fauna from the Iguaçu and Paraná rivers, flooded forest, Amazon gallery and ocean zone, including fish such as catfish, lambari, mandi-pintado, traíra, jacundá, surubim, pacu, piapara, dourado, jaú, stingrays, curimbatá, pineapple-catfish, piraputanga, cachara, pirarucu, peacock bass, tambaqui, pirarara, matrinxã, aruanã, piramboia, tetras, cichlids and various piranhas.
