Environment Secretariat acts against illegal dumping and raises awareness
The Municipal Environment Secretariat began on Monday (July 6) a cleaning and caretaking drive in the industrial zone of Foz do Iguaçu, in partnership with the Secretariat of Economic Development, Labor and Agriculture. The action aims to remove accumulated waste and educate residents and businesses about the risks of improper disposal.

What is being done
During the drive, teams remove trash and rubble from public spaces, carry out cleaning and maintenance, and also mow the margins of Perimetral Leste. Employees of the Secretariat of Economic Development also remove damaged trees and prepare the soil. Work continues as weather conditions allow.
Why the action is necessary
Historically, sections of the industrial area have accumulated waste that was discarded illegally. This problem affects urban cleanliness, causes environmental damage, and harms companies and residents in the region. The buildup of trash also encourages the proliferation of venomous animals and the mosquito Aedes aegypti, which transmits dengue, Zika and chikungunya.
Call to the public
The Municipal Environment Secretariat emphasizes that the cooperation of residents and businesses is essential to prevent new illegal disposals. Proper waste disposal preserves public spaces, reduces environmental impacts, and keeps the city cleaner and safer.
