Itaipu Binacional funds prefabricated structure on Route Py02
Installation of prefabricated pillars for the main structure of the future Km 10 overpass on Route Py02 in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, has begun. The project is financed by Itaipu Binacional.

Work started with the placement of components on the heads already built on site. The first structures, manufactured in Capiatá, are intended for the Monday side of the overpass. Each pillar measures 0.80 × 0.80 m, with heights varying according to the technical design.
The design calls for ten pillars per overpass, arranged in five pairs that will support the next components. Two parallel overpasses will be built—one for entering the city and one for exiting. These pillars will hold the diaphragms, which in turn will support prefabricated beams of 20 m and 30 m. Pre‑slabs will later be installed on the beams to form the traffic surface.
The pieces for the Acaray side are expected to arrive later this Wednesday. Starting Thursday, June 25, transport and installation of the diaphragms in the south and north sectors are scheduled, with progressive advancement of the superstructure. The system was designed to speed up timelines by using prefabricated components.
When completed, the overpass will improve traffic flow on one of the main accesses to Ciudad del Este, an area that before construction was one of the most congested points, especially due to private‑port truck traffic.
