Border cities advance cooperation to ease tourist circulation

Authorities from Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, and Presidente Franco, Paraguay, have finalized the details of a bilateral agreement aimed at expanding inbound tourism and allowing tourist vehicles to travel between the two border cities. The document will be signed in about 15 days.

The meeting took place at the Puerto Iguazú City Hall and included Leopoldo Lucas, secretary of the Municipal Cultural Tourism Center; a councilor from Presidente Franco serving as chair of the International Affairs Committee; Julio González, tourism secretary; and representatives of the company Balsa do Iguazú.

The agreement will establish cooperation mechanisms between the two localities to boost tourist flow by leveraging the existing river connection via the ferry service. A key point will be to facilitate the transit of tourism-dedicated vehicles on the ferry that links Presidente Franco with Puerto Iguazú, expanding tourist circuits and promoting greater integration of attractions in both countries.

The initiative allows visitors to move more easily between the two cities, strengthening a regional tourism offering based on nature, culture, gastronomy, and proximity to Triple Frontier destinations. The signing will occur at the Presidente Franco City Hall and will be attended by the mayors of both cities.
