Storm knocks down 16 trees and damages roofs in Foz do Iguaçu

The storm mainly affected the Eastern region of Foz do Iguaçu, where rainfall reached up to 48 mm. The Southern region accumulated 46 mm and the Northern region 14 mm. The strongest winds hit the Northern region, reaching 75 km/h.

Tree falls occurred at several locations: Vila C, the central area and Vila Yolanda. At the corner of Marechal Floriano Peixoto Street and Engenheiro Rebouças Street, a tree blocked traffic. In Vila Yolanda, a large tree struck a house, causing material damage. Roof problems were also reported in Jardim Atlantis, Polo Centro and a warehouse in the Panorama neighborhood, where Civil Defense was called for assessment.

Hail in Foz do Iguaçu was small and caused no damage in the urban area. In Paraguay, however, larger hailstones damaged roofs and vehicles in southern cities. According to Civil Defense, there were no injured, homeless or displaced persons. Teams from Copel and the City Hall are working on restoring services and clearing the affected points. All voting locations in Foz do Iguaçu will operate normally on Sunday, October 4.

The instability also affected other parts of Paraná, with winds of 124.2 km/h in Laranjeiras do Sul, 94.3 km/h in General Carneiro, 85.3 km/h in Santa Maria do Oeste and 79.2 km/h in Guarapuava.
