Monument in Foz do Iguaçu marks the date with revitalization investments
The Three Borders Landmark obelisk in Foz do Iguaçu will turn 123 years old on July 20. Inaugurated in 1903 to officially mark the meeting point of Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay, the monument is one of the city’s main symbols and a representation of integration among the three nations.

The obelisk was erected to delineate the borders among the three countries and has become a witness to the history of Foz do Iguaçu and one of the most emblematic settings in South America.
Since 2015, the complex has been managed by Grupo Cataratas and underwent a refurbishment that included visitor infrastructure, a food plaza, cultural performances, and communal spaces. Annual visitation grew more than 315% since the concession began, surpassing half a million visitors in 2025. In 2025, the Three Borders Landmark received the Travelers' Choice seal from TripAdvisor.
Grupo Cataratas is currently investing BRL 40 million in the revitalization of the Americas Space, a historic structure within the complex, with completion expected in 2026. The project includes new viewpoints, exhibition galleries, dining areas, cultural zones, walkways, ramps, and panoramic elevators, enhancing accessibility and the visitor experience.
