Flow data and walkway status on 10/15/2026
On Thursday morning (10/15/2026), the flow of the Iguaçu Falls measured 13 million liters per second, below the 16 million recorded the previous Wednesday. Despite the drop, the volume remains above the historical average and the main walkway of Iguaçu National Park, in Foz do Iguaçu (PR), has been closed since 8 a.m. on Sunday (10/11).

The flow of 13 million liters per second is still well above the normal average of 1.5 million and below the historic record of 46 million recorded in 2014.
On Monday (10/12) the river reached 11.8 million liters per second, the highest volume of 2026 so far, and on Wednesday (10/14) at 8 a.m. it marked 15.7 million.
The walkway is closed preemptively when the flow exceeds 8.5 million liters per second and tends to rise; the current level of 13 million remains above that threshold.
On Tuesday (10/13) park safety and operations teams, mainly civil firefighters, removed the railing from the walkway for the first time since 2023, following the Urbia+Cataratas protocol to ensure free water passage after heavy rains in Paraná.
Volume monitoring is done daily and becomes hourly during flood conditions; access will only be restored when the river returns to safe levels with no forecast of another rise.
The Bananeiras and Poço Preto trails were also closed due to flood risk, and this is not the first walkway closure in 2026 – it had already been blocked in July and September.
Iguaçu National Park remains open to tourists.
