From the trail you see the falls head-on and from below. From the air you see the shape: the horseshoe curve, the river arriving wide and vanishing into the Devil's Throat, the border line, and the dense forest of both national parks around it. It is the perspective that explains the geography of the place.

When the river runs high, as in September 2026, the spray climbs and part of the set disappears under vapour. At low flow the rock architecture shows in full. Worth checking first at how the Falls are today.

What to know before booking

• The aircraft carries few passengers. Up to 4 people per panoramic flight, with one seat up front beside the pilot.
• Weather decides. Panoramic flights depend on cloud base and visibility; in heavy rain or thick fog the operation stops. Do not leave it for the last day of your trip.
• The tour is on the Brazilian side. Argentine airspace is not part of the route.

Is it worth it?

It depends what you want to take home. Ten minutes is short, and the price equals several park tickets. Booking and timing

Flights run on demand rather than on a fixed timetable: you arrive, put your name down and wait for the next departure with seats. In high season, particularly July and January, waits get long in the middle of the day, so early morning is the safer slot. It also happens to be when light comes in low across the falls and photographs best.

If your visit falls in a week of heavy rain, keep the flight loose in your plan and treat it as the item to move. The walkways stay open in bad weather; the helicopter does not.
