Are there discounts for seniors, children and disabled visitors in Foz?

Direct answer: There is no single rule in Foz do Iguaçu, and the gap is wide. At Iguaçu Falls, only children up to 6 are exempt; seniors and students pay full price, because the park holds that Brazil's half-price law does not apply to a federal park. At Itaipu, students, seniors and disabled visitors get half price. At Parque das Aves, children up to 8 go free and half price applies to seniors, students, teachers, disabled visitors and a companion. Everywhere, bring the document that proves the entitlement.

The surprise: the priciest ticket gives no senior discount

This is what causes most of the arguments at the ticket desk. Iguaçu Falls, the most expensive ticket in town, grants no half-price rate to seniors or students.

The park's reasoning is published in its ticket policy: the federal laws creating the half-price benefit, nº 10.741/2003 (Statute of the Older Person) and nº 12.933/2013 (student half price), apply to specific venues such as cinemas, theatres, shows and sporting or leisure events, and the park holds that they do not apply to federal parks.

You may disagree with that reading, and some visitors do complain about it, but it is the rule in practice today.

Attraction by attraction

The discount locals often miss

People who live in the region get the strongest discount of all, and it does not depend on age:

• The falls: the Passe Comunidade costs R$26 against R$134 for full admission, for residents of Foz do Iguaçu and 13 neighbouring municipalities. It requires proof of address plus photo ID.
• Itaipu: residents of the neighbouring municipalities get free entry to tours including the Panorâmica, the Biological Refuge and Itaipu Iluminada.
• Three Borders Landmark: residents of Foz do Iguaçu do not pay.

Which document to bring

The entitlement disappears if you cannot prove it. Bring the original, not a photo on your phone:

• Children: photo ID, even for babies. The falls require original photo ID to grant the exemption.
• Seniors: identity document, where half price exists, as at Itaipu and Parque das Aves.
• Students and teachers: a valid student card or proof of employment.
• Disabled visitors: a medical report, card or document proving the condition.
• Residents: recent proof of address in your own name, plus photo ID.

Two traps

The age that counts as "child" changes from place to place. A seven-year-old goes free at Parque das Aves and pays full price at the falls. On a family outing that changes the day's budget.

Rules and prices change. The falls' price table was updated in December 2025 and the senior rate that used to exist no longer applies. Always confirm on each attraction's official website before buying.
