The Iguazú River reached 15,794 m³/s at the Falls at noon on 14 October, more than ten times the historical average and well above our series' previous record of 11,831 m³/s on 12 October. Flow rose non-stop for 30 hours and has started to level off.

The ANA gauge at the Hotel das Cataratas read 15,794 m³/s at noon on 14 October. That is the highest value in the series Guia 3 has tracked since 17 June 2026, well above the previous record of 11,831 m³/s on 12 October, and more than ten times the historical average of 1,500 m³/s. The baseline matters: the river's record dates from June 2014, so this is a record for our series, not for the Iguazú's history.

How the river rose

whenflow
13 Oct, 2 am9,567 m³/s (the low after the 12 October peak)
13 Oct, noon11,524 m³/s
13 Oct, 10 pm14,442 m³/s
14 Oct, 6 am15,546 m³/s
14 Oct, noon15,794 m³/s

That is about 30 hours of continuous rise, more than 6,000 m³/s added. Between noon and 1 pm today the reading did not change: the river has started to level off, with INMET's orange storm alert still in force for Foz.
