The Customs of the Federal Revenue Service in Foz do Iguaçu presented a management plan for 2026–2028 aimed at consolidating a smart-border model based on compliance, technology and risk management. The proposal was presented to ACIFI at a Superior Council meeting on September 3.

Deputy officer Fabiano Diniz stated that between 2026 and 2028 the customs service will move beyond focusing solely on the implementation of physical structures and will lead the transformation of Brazil’s land customs operating model, establishing a national paradigm for the borders of the future.
The plan is organized into eight pillars: consolidation of the new customs facilities and transformation of operational models; smart border, compliance and risk management; modernization of the International Friendship Bridge Customs (focused on tourism and luggage); dry port and customs logistics; combating smuggling and illicit trade; people, leadership and organizational culture; asset governance and core projects; and knowledge, innovation and national replicability, which includes a Corporate Border University and a National Innovation Laboratory.
The jurisdiction handles 50,000 vehicles per day at the main border points, 126,000 people per day in international transit across the bridges, 2.5 million passengers per year at the airport, 215,000 international cargo transport vehicles per year at the dry port and R$ 5.3 billion per year in movement.
