First International Book Fair in Ciudad del Este

The event opened on September 10 at 6 p.m. and operates daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The programming brings together over 100 activities, including executive lectures, university panels, workshops and more than 70 book launches by authors from Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil.

Highlights include a lecture by the president of the National Association of Higher Education on education and the job market; a presentation on artificial intelligence applied to the legal sector by representatives of the International Association of Lawyers; and a panel of university publishers with participants from higher education institutions. The scientific programming includes a presentation on microbiota. In the social area, there will be a handicrafts stand from people deprived of liberty, organized by the Ministry of Justice, and a book collection for the Minga Guazú Penitentiary Center.

The Chamber Orchestra of the Municipality of Ciudad del Este and the musical group La Tocatta accompany the presentations. The event is co-organized by the Municipality of Ciudad del Este, Society of Writers of Paraguay, Associated Paraguayan Writers, Argentine Society of Writers, Superior Institute of Fine Arts, Argentine Chamber of the Book and Bookstore and De La Paz Editions, with support from the National Secretariat of Culture and Secretariat of Linguistic Policies.

According to the organizers, the initiative seeks to position Alto Paraná as a hub for cultural tourism and creative goods trade, as well as to boost the consumption of literary products and generate economic impact on the gastronomic and services sector of the shopping center.
