Company recognized for diversity and inclusion program
Itaipu Binacional received the award from the Public Ethics Commission of the Presidency of the Republic in Brasília on Thursday, June 18, during the 11th Competition of Good Practices for Ethics Management. The distinction honored the initiative "Journey to Structure the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Guidelines of Itaipu Binacional," which placed first in Category C.

The company was honored for the practice developed by the Gender, Race, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and presented by the Legal Directorate. The recognition took place during the 26th Ethics in Management Seminar, held on June 18 and 19.
Itaipu's legal director, Luiz Fernando Delazari, represented the institution at the event and said the award demonstrates the maturation of ethics as a structuring policy within the company. According to him, institutional policies need to be backed by diagnosis, indicators, planning and monitoring to deliver results.
The initiative stemmed from the need to update the diagnosis on diversity, equity, inclusion and biopsychosocial factors of the internal audience. From that, Itaipu built a data‑driven agenda, defining priorities, training actions and monitoring mechanisms. Actions include gathering internal information, interviewing leaders, institutional mobilization and the Itaipu Census 2025.
Delazari highlighted that the recognition reinforces the importance of an agenda that integrates diversity, equity, inclusion, human rights and public ethics into Itaipu's governance. The implementation of the policies was supported by management, especially the Brazilian general director, Enio Verri.
