Resources allocated to public finances, electrical system and local programs
Itaipu Binacional transferred US$ 239 million to the Paraguayan State between January and June 2026, according to the entity's announcement. The funds were applied to financing public accounts, strengthening the national electrical grid and executing programs by local governments.

Of the transferred amount, US$ 131 million came from royalties, US$ 66 million from compensation for the cession of Paraguayan energy and US$ 42 million in reimbursement to the National Electricity Administration (ANDE) for administrative costs and capital utilities.
The disbursements follow what is established in Annex C of the Itaipu Treaty. In June alone, royalties totaled US$ 22 million, compensation for energy cession reached US$ 10 million and ANDE received approximately US$ 1.7 million in reimbursement.
Royalty funds are channeled to the General Budget of the Nation (PGN) to finance state programs and investments. The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) distributes part of these funds to departments and municipalities for infrastructure works, basic services and development projects. Compensation for energy cession also benefits subnational governments and the National School Feeding Fund (FNAE), which finances feeding programs in public schools.
According to disclosed information, the hydroelectric plant continues to be a relevant source of revenue for the Paraguayan public sector.
