Free space hackathon brings innovators together in November
Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, will host the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2026 on November 14 and 15, one of the world's largest innovation hackathons. The free event, open to participants aged 14 and up, will take place at Lago Shopping and will gather both in-person and virtual participants to develop solutions in areas such as agriculture, medicine, education and technology.
The hackathon is driven by NASA in partnership with 14 other space agencies. Participants will work in multidisciplinary teams using agile methodologies to tackle challenges related to real-world problems on Earth and in space.
The local organization, with support from the Mi LAB Collaborative Innovation Hub, aims to bring together about 300 in-person participants. Virtual participation has no limit and is open to interested people from other cities and countries.
No specific career or field is required to register. All participants will receive a certificate issued by NASA. Projects that stand out may advance to an international evaluation stage, where up to 10 global finalist teams will be selected to access experiences with the space agency, including visits to its facilities.
The event will also feature exhibition spaces for scientific and technological projects with participation from educational institutions.
