Argentine destination participates in the 30th edition of the International Tourism Fair focusing on diversifying visitors

Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, marked its presence at the 30th edition of the International Tourism Fair (FIT) with its own booth gathering 12 local tourism service providers. The president of the Iguazú Municipal Tourism Agency (ITUREM) highlighted the availability of more than 30 attractions and activities in the destination year-round.

The participation in FIT represented an expanded effort compared with the previous year, when the booth featured 10 private-sector representatives. In addition to the business delegation, the mayor of Iguazú attended and the agency worked together with the provincial tourism ministry.

Given the absence of a specific provincial booth for the Litoral region, ITUREM organized a space within its own stand so that other tourism destinations in Misiones could be represented. The fair recorded a visitor record on Saturday, September 26, with 65,000 attendees.

The ITUREM president acknowledged a challenging context for national tourism, with a drop in visitors from other Argentine provinces. Nevertheless, he viewed the FIT crowd flow as a positive signal of the population’s travel intentions.

For the summer season, the president emphasized that the destination monitors the El Niño phenomenon, which historically brings heavy rains and higher river flows from October to April. Iguazú National Park remains open and ready for visitation, offering multiple options: Lower and Upper circuits, Jungle Ecological Train, Macuco trail, boat tours and interpretive trails (traditional and Yaguareté).

The closure of the Garganta del Diablo circuit for several months is due to safety concerns, as the walkways near the water can become hazardous during floods. The president stressed that the destination’s slogan is "Iguazú, all year round" and that, besides the national park, there are more than 30 attractions and activities in the city available to tourists.

The ITUREM president expressed high expectations for the summer season, described as the peak of the year. He noted that currently there is a reduction both in tourism spending and in the number of overnight stays compared with previous periods.
