São João Circuit and Power Plant Closed at Cataratas

The São João Circuit and the Power Plant Space, located within Iguaçu National Park, had access closed on Monday (12) because of the rise in river levels in the region after intense rains in recent days.

According to Urbia+Cataratas and ICMBio, the flow of the Iguaçu Falls reached 8.8 million liters per second on Sunday (11), a value about six times the historical average recorded for the period. At the beginning of the month, the flow had already reached 7.3 million liters per second.

The Cataratas walkway was also closed as a preventive measure, but the Cataratas Trail and other viewpoints remain open to the public. The concessionaire states that it is monitoring the situation and that reopening will depend on the water level dropping and the safety assessment of the sites.
