SMTU conducts tourism roadshow in Madrid, Lisbon, Frankfurt and Paris

SMTU, in partnership with Visit Iguassu and the Iguaçu Fund, participated in the Vbrata Roadshow Visit Brazil 2026, which began on Monday (19) in Madrid, Spain, moved to Lisbon, Portugal, on Tuesday (20), then to Frankfurt, Germany, on Wednesday (21), and concluded in Paris, France, on Thursday (22). The SMTU representative, Célia de Andrade, emphasized that the initiative aims to increase awareness of Foz do Iguaçu, showcase the diversity of attractions, and strengthen relationships with Europe. According to visitation data from Iguaçu National Park, in 2025 Spain was the country of origin for 29,682 visitors, ranking third among the largest European source markets and sixth overall among foreign nationalities. In 2026, through September, the city received 21,290 Spanish tourists. Germany was the leading European market in 2025 with 37,348 visitors, and from January to September 2026 it recorded 31,746 visitors. France sent 31,746 visitors in 2025, ranking second among the largest European source markets, and in the first nine months of 2026 it counted 22,133 visitors. These visitation figures demonstrate the relevance of the Spanish, German and French markets, and participation in Madrid, Frankfurt and Paris provides an opportunity to strengthen contact with professionals from those markets, while the stop in Lisbon aims to expand outreach in Portugal and deepen ties with the local tourism sector.
