Km 10 Viaduct in Ciudad del Este reaches 57% completion

Advances in paving and structure

The pavement of the traffic-detour roads has been completed in the Acaray (north) and Monday (south) neighborhoods, with only horizontal and vertical signage remaining. Km 10 Acaray Avenue received its final asphalt, while Km 10 Monday Avenue continues with stone-paving work.

In the main structure, the longitudinal beams of the north and south viaducts are already installed. The south viaduct completed the placement of precast slabs and concrete pouring of the deck slab. Concrete work on the New Jersey-type side barrier is underway, and the placement of precast slabs on the north viaduct continues for later deck pouring.

Next steps

Work on the north collector road (San Blas Avenue) and the south collector road (Monseñor Rodríguez Avenue) continues with earthmoving, drainage, and sub-base installation. Access ramps to the north and south viaducts, as well as the east-side return, are in the earth-moving phase.

The project foresees four lanes on the viaduct and collector roads, with turn-backs and pedestrian passages. The intervention will connect kilometers 8.5 and 12 of route PY02, improving traffic flow, safety, and access to commercial, industrial, and residential zones.

Currently, the Traffic Detour Plan is at phase 5, with route PY02 blocked in the work zone and vehicle flow channeled through the opened collector roads.
