FIT Cataratas: the tourism trade fair of Foz do Iguaçu

Direct answer: FIT Cataratas, the Cataratas International Tourism Festival, is the region's largest tourism fair. The 2026 edition ran from 10 to 12 June, and the 2027 edition is set for 2 to 4 June, in Foz do Iguaçu. In 2025 it drew more than 12,000 participants, over 1,300 brands and 43 delegations from Brazil and abroad.

What it is

An exhibition floor, a congress and business rounds at once, focused on connecting operators, destinations, hotels and service providers. The organisers position it around sustainability and innovation across the tourism chain, and its reach crosses the border: destinations from all over Brazil and from neighbouring countries take part.

For industry professionals it is the main meeting point of the year at the Triple Frontier. For ordinary visitors, the open programme is secondary: this is not a street festival.

Why it happens in June

Here a data point explains the city's calendar. We have tracked monthly visitor numbers at the Falls since 2019, and June is one of the weakest months: it runs at 78% of the median month, only above May (72%).

In other words, the city concentrates its major events precisely in the window when the attractions have slack, which makes sense for hotels and for the event's own visitors, who find a quieter park.
