Do you need a passport to visit Puerto Iguazú, Argentina?
A valid Brazilian ID works for Brazilians; the bus waits at the border
Brazilian citizens enter Argentina with a valid RG (national ID) in good condition, the CIN, or a valid passport — a driver's license is not accepted as a travel document. At the Tancredo Neves Bridge crossing, everyone goes through Argentine immigration; on international buses, passengers get off, register in about 10 minutes, and the bus waits. Travelers of other nationalities should carry a valid passport.

Under the Mercosur agreement, Brazilian citizens don't need a passport or visa to enter Argentina as tourists. Accepted documents:
- a RG in good condition (recognizable photo; avoid very old documents)
- the CIN — the new National Identity Card
- a valid passport
A driver's license is not accepted as an international travel document.
How the crossing works (Tancredo Neves Bridge):
- By international bus: the vehicle stops at Argentine customs, everyone gets off with their document in hand, registration takes ~10 minutes, and the bus waits
- By car: have the vehicle documents in order; a rental car needs the rental company's authorization to leave the country
- On foot or by bike: the bridge has a walkway and control is at the same post
Minors: follow Brazilian rules for travel abroad — accompanied by both parents, the ID is enough; with only one parent or unaccompanied, a travel authorization is required (electronic or notarized).
Day-trippers heading only to the Argentine park also go through immigration — entry and exit are recorded on the same day.
Visitors of other nationalities: carry a valid passport to cross into Argentina. Check your nationality's entry requirements with the official immigration service before traveling.
