About 7,000 Paraguayans already have document to cross Integration Bridge

The DTF allows transit of border residents under a special regime. According to information from Paraguayan Migration, the beneficiaries have already completed the procedures with the Brazilian migration authority. The opening of the passage for light vehicles began the previous day, operating from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., but until the early hours of Monday no private vehicle had crossed under this regime.

The cost of the procedure is one of the main points of tension. In Paraguay, the tariff is 264,000 guaranis per person — a value questioned by Brazil for being higher than what is charged there. Additionally, crossing the second bridge does not authorize shopping tourism, reducing the appeal for Foz do Iguaçu residents.

Paraguayan Migration confirmed that there is a Brazilian request for tariff reduction, a topic that will be discussed in bilateral meetings. A Paraguay-Brazil Joint Commission was scheduled for Tuesday, when the issue could be addressed. For now, the fee remains in effect.

The DTF is valid for five years and must be presented to migration authorities each time the Integration Bridge is used under this regime.

Passenger services in closed circuits with no final destination in Ciudad del Este or Foz do Iguaçu continue to circulate exclusively via the Integration Bridge 24 hours a day. International regular line passenger transport also continues to use this border crossing exclusively and uninterruptedly.
