Expectations of increased sales in technology and electronics
Business leaders in Ciudad del Este expect to close the year with commercial growth between 15% and 20%. The sector highlights technology and electronics as the main drivers of activity.

The commerce of Ciudad del Este faces the last months of the year with renewed expectations and hopes that elected municipal authorities will respond quickly to problems affecting the downtown area, such as zoning, security, cleanliness, and better conditions for visitors.
Chariff Hammoud, president of the Alto Paraná Importers and Merchants Center (CICAP), said the business community is willing to keep investing and creating jobs, but it needs the urban environment to keep pace with this effort. He highlighted the growing regional interest in Ciudad del Este and the intention to revive nighttime commercial activity, gradually extending operating hours.
The year-end period generates special anticipation among merchants due to the traditional surge of shoppers during the Christmas and New Year season, with a larger presence of visitors from Brazil and Argentina. Business projections estimate that Ciudad del Este could finish the year with commercial growth of between 15% and 20%.
Technology and electronics remain among the main drivers of activity, while sectors such as watchmaking, jewelry, perfumery, cosmetics, beauty, and wellness also show favorable performance.
Buyers arrive increasingly well-informed, checking prices in advance and using social media to learn about products and promotions. According to Hammoud, Argentine shoppers tend to plan their purchases more, while Brazilians respond more quickly to new offers they find online.
To sustain growth, the private sector considers it essential to strengthen border infrastructure. Hammoud proposed using the Integration Bridge more intensively to distribute vehicle and visitor flow and reduce the pressure currently borne by the Friendship Bridge, as well as anticipating a possible third bridge connection with Argentina.
The goal, according to Hammoud, should not be limited to boosting sales; Ciudad del Este has the opportunity to become a destination where visitors stay longer, explore the city, and encounter attractions that complement commercial activity, taking advantage of the massive movement of the Triple Frontier.
