Cleaning effort mobilized teams from Monday to Friday against illegal dumping
The City Hall of Foz do Iguaçu completed on Friday, July 10, a cleanup drive in the industrial zone that removed more than 240 tons of garbage, debris and illegally discarded materials. The operation, which began on Monday, July 6, involved the Municipal Environment Secretariat and the Secretariat of Economic Development, Labor and Agriculture.

The work focused on sites historically marked by clandestine waste dumping. In addition to collecting materials, the teams performed brush clearing along the eastern perimeter road, removed compromised trees, and prepared the soil in the area.
During the operation, municipal agencies also sought to educate business owners, workers and residents about the proper disposal of trash, furniture and construction leftovers.
According to the Municipal Environment Secretariat, illegal dumping harms urban cleaning, causes environmental damage, and affects both companies in the industrial area and the community. The practice also encourages the proliferation of venomous animals and the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits dengue, Zika and chikungunya.
The City Hall asks the public to keep public spaces clean and to dispose of waste properly.
