Federal agency denies project changes; state document mentions redesign

The National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) reported that it did not approve any changes to the executive project for the duplication of BR-469 in Foz do Iguaçu, particularly regarding access to the International Airport. This stance contrasts with a state government document that lists a redesign of that access among the planned interventions.

The disagreement arose after the Integrated Tourism Management questioned the possible elimination of the access ramp in the direction of the National Park and the Airport. In a letter to the Municipal Council of Traffic and Transport, the regional superintendent of DNIT in Paraná, Hélio Gomes da Silva Júnior, stated that the project retains its original configuration and that any modification would depend on technical analysis and approval by the competent authorities.

Eliminating this ramp would force drivers to travel approximately five additional kilometers toward the city center before reaching the next turnaround point, primarily affecting tourists traveling to attractions or the airport.

However, a document sent by the Paraná government to Rádio Cultura on Thursday (August 13) listed four strategic overpasses of the duplication and mentioned a "redesign of access to the International Airport of Foz do Iguaçu" among the interventions, creating a contradiction with the federal position.

The president of the Municipal Council of Traffic and Transport, Giovani Márcio Keller, announced that the entity will also send a letter to the Department of Roads to verify whether there is a formal request for alteration. Keller noted that, with the work nearing completion, DNIT would already be aware of any change.
