Work depends on the municipality delivering the executive project
The Government of Paraná confirmed that it has resources earmarked for the construction of the new Charrua Interchange, one of the main accesses to Foz do Iguaçu. The start of the works, however, is conditioned on the completion and delivery of the executive project that is the responsibility of the municipality.
According to the director-president of the Paraná Road Department (DER-PR), Fernando Furiati, the Governor's Office has already set aside the necessary amounts and is waiting only for the municipality's project to conduct technical analysis, approval and the continuation of the execution phases.
The project foresees a broad reorganization of the interchange, linking Ranieri Mazzilli Avenue and Garibaldi Avenue via a grade-separated passage under BR-277. New marginal roads, a semi-roundabout and changes to existing accesses are also planned, aiming to separate urban traffic from long-distance flow and improve the connection between the North and Central regions of Foz do Iguaçu.
The company Multilog is preparing the executive designs, which will be donated to the municipality. The initial configuration may be adjusted, especially the accesses to the Parque Presidente I and Parque Presidente II neighborhoods, after suggestions from residents in a public hearing held in June. In July, representatives of the Municipality, City Council and the responsible company met to evaluate community proposals based on technical feasibility, road safety, traffic fluidity and system efficiency.
DER-PR has not yet set a date to start the works. The possibility of beginning the works in 2026 depends directly on the municipality delivering the project.
