Highest historic rate for the holiday, according to Municipal Tourism Department data
Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, reached 89% hotel occupancy during the 2026 Corpus Christi holiday, the best result ever documented for the date. The rate represents a five‑point increase over the previous year.

The city's hotels closed the festive period with an average occupancy of 89%, while inns reached 90%, maintaining the same performance as in 2025.
The survey, conducted by the Municipal Tourism Department, interviewed 98 of the 111 licensed lodging establishments, covering 88% of the monitored universe. The recovery trajectory shows consistent growth: 84% in 2022, 85% in 2023, 86% in 2024, 84% in 2025 and now 89% in 2026. The current result exceeds by 59 percentage points the lowest point recorded during the pandemic, when occupancy fell to 30% on Corpus Christi 2021.
According to Sheila Domingues, head of the Statistics and Tourist Studies Division of SMTU, the data confirm the consolidation of Foz do Iguaçu as a destination with strong demand and stable occupancy during long‑holiday periods. Tourism Secretary Jin Petrycoski attributed the performance to continuous tourism promotion and integration among sector stakeholders.
