August 2026 data also mark a historic peak: overall average occupancy of 74%, eight percentage points above August 2025 (66%). The historical series shows continuous improvement — it was 33% in 2021, rising to 58% in 2022 and 2023, 60% in 2024, and 66% in 2025.

By segment, hotels recorded 75% occupancy in August, while inns reached 66%. In the previous month (August 2025), the rates were 66% and 63%, respectively.

Methodology

The research was conducted by the Division of Statistics and Tourist Studies (DVEET), linked to the Technical Directorate of Tourism Development. Of the 111 lodging establishments with a current license, 90 responded to the survey, representing a response rate of 81%.
