Iguazú National Park Remains Open in Puerto Iguazú

Iguazú National Park, located in Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, remains open throughout the year and continues to welcome visitors from Argentina and abroad, despite the extraordinary increase in the waterfalls’ flow.

In recent days, the rise in water volume led to the closure of the Devil’s Throat viewpoint in the Brazilian park, but this measure does not imply the closure of the Argentine park. The Devil’s Throat had already been closed preemptively in August, when the walkways were removed to preserve the structures and ensure visitor safety.

The other attractions remain operational, and the park keeps its services and facilities open for tourism. Visitors can access the Superior and Inferior trails, as well as Sendero Verde, Sendero Macuco, Yvyrá Retá Visitor Center, and Yaguareté Territory.

The park recently welcomed one million visitors in the year, confirming its importance within the regional tourism circuit. The extraordinary flow recorded is associated with the meteorological conditions of the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO). The surge temporarily alters the tourist experience, but the preemptive removal of the Devil’s Throat walkways serves as a risk-management measure.
