Hundreds of faithful greeted the pilgrim image of Our Lady of Aparecida at Porto Meira in Foz do Iguaçu on Saturday, September 28. The image, coming directly from the National Sanctuary in São Paulo, landed at Campo Gustavão shortly before 5 p.m. Dozens of devotees were already waiting at the site for the reception.
After the arrival, the pilgrims proceeded in a procession to the parish’s social hall. Two priests from the Diocese led the celebration: one noted in his homily that the presence of the image brings spiritual renewal to the community, emphasizing the maternal protection it represents for the faithful.
The image will remain at the Porto Meira church until October 12, the day Brazil celebrates its patroness. During this period, diocesan priests will celebrate daily Masses, along with a program of prayers and moments of consecration.
