Running since 2002, the light show on the dam has enchanted more than 765,000 visitors and became one of the main nighttime activities in Foz do Iguaçu and the Triple Frontier. After almost 24 years, the current system gives way to a new state-of-the-art LED lighting — the same technology used on icons such as the Empire State Building in New York and Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.
According to Itaipu's tourism team, the new project keeps the same 829 light points and the essence of the original design, but with technology that changes colors and intensity far faster — and the plan is to expand shows to four or five days a week (today only Friday and Saturday).
