Free vaccine for children from 2 months old
The Pneumo 20 vaccine has begun to be distributed at the 28 Basic Health Units of Foz do Iguaçu. The vaccine is intended for children from 2 months up to under 5 years old and special groups indicated by the Ministry of Health.

The City Hall of Foz do Iguaçu reports that the new vaccine is already available to the population at the municipal health network units. This is the first time the SUS offers this medication free of charge.
The drug works against Streptococcus pneumoniae, the bacterium that causes respiratory infections and central nervous system infections. The coverage includes 20 distinct serotypes of the bacterium, responsible for conditions such as pneumonia, bacterial meningitis and middle ear infection.
Parents and guardians should go to the nearest health unit so that the vaccination record can be reviewed by the health team. The assessment takes into account the immunization history, the child's age and current recommendations for administration.
Like all SUS vaccines, Pneumo 20 underwent rigorous scientific studies and received approval from the competent health authorities.
