Puerto Iguazú has 7 five-star hotels, more than entire provinces

The concentration of luxury hospitality in Puerto Iguazú exceeds that of many Argentine territories. According to the Association of Tourism Hotels of the Argentine Republic (AHT), the country has 84 five-star establishments in total. Buenos Aires leads with 27, followed by Buenos Aires province with ten. Puerto Iguazú ranks third, ahead of Mendoza and Rio Negro (five each) and Córdoba (four).

No other city in the Argentine interior possesses similar density of luxury establishments relative to its size. The expansion continues: confirmed projects include a five-star Marriott, a Sheraton, the Jungle Lodge (focused on the premium nature segment), a new O2 Hoteles group hotel in the 600 Hectares zone and a luxury glamping site.

The president of the local tourism body states that investments of this magnitude indicate confidence in Iguazú's potential. According to him, the combination of unique natural attraction, air connectivity, coordination between public and private sectors and international positioning strategy explains the growth.

In a national context, Argentina still has reduced participation in premium hospitality. While Chile dedicates 34% of its accommodations to luxury and high-end categories, and Uruguay 27%, Argentina reaches only 13%, according to AHT data. However, 39% of hotel projects under construction in the country correspond to high-end establishments.

The new developments combine hotels with branded residences, real estate developments, shopping centers and gastronomic proposals, forming mixed-use complexes that diversify revenues.
