AquaFoz: tickets, hours and how to visit the Foz aquarium

Direct answer: AquaFoz opens daily from 9am to 6:30pm, with last entry at 5pm. A full ticket costs R$150 at the box office or R$135 buying online in advance. Half price R$75, children 3 to 11 R$60, and free up to 2 years and 11 months. Foz do Iguaçu residents pay R$30, box office only, with proof of address. It takes cash in Argentine pesos and Paraguayan guaraníes, as well as reais, dollars and euros.

It is the newest attraction on the border and it landed in the most practical spot possible: on the Cataratas highway, facing the National Park entrance. You can do it the same day as the Falls without crossing the city.

Prices, no surprises

Half price requires supporting ID. The resident rate is sold only at the physical box office, with photo ID and proof of address: it does not appear online. There is also a combo with the Three Borders Landmark, worth checking if you plan to do both.

How you can pay

This is the detail that generates the most questions and that almost nobody spells out. AquaFoz accepts:

• Cash in Argentine pesos, guaraníes, reais, dollars and euros
• Pix and credit and debit cards
• Credit in up to 3 interest-free instalments (not at the food outlets)

So you do not need to change money just to get in. Even so, it is worth reading where to change money at the border, because a ticket-desk exchange rate is rarely the best of the day.

What is inside

Opened in late 2025 by Grupo Cataratas, it is presented as one of South America's largest aquariums: over 3.3 million litres of water and more than 300 species, freshwater and saltwater.

The route follows a geography that works well: it starts in the Iguaçu and Paraná rivers, the ones you have just been looking at, and ends in the ocean. For anyone coming from the Falls, it explains what they were seeing from above.

Getting there

It sits on the Cataratas highway (BR-469), facing the National Park: the same access as the Brazilian side of the Falls, about 15 km from central Foz.

• City bus: the Parque Nacional line leaves the TTU terminal and stops at the door. Cheapest option.
• Car or app: Uber and 99 work normally in Foz. There is parking on site.

Combining it with the Falls

The two entrances face each other, so the pairing is natural. What works: the Falls early in the morning, when the park opens and crowds are thinnest, and AquaFoz in the afternoon, which also gives you shade in the worst of the heat.

The reverse works too, but remember the aquarium's 5pm last entry: leave the Falls late and you will not make it.
