1st Literary Festival in Foz do Iguaçu, September

The festival honors author Ruth Rocha and public servant, professor and writer Waldson Dias, a pioneer of the city's Book Fair. Praça da Paz will feature special set design with environments that simulate literary stories.

The program includes art exhibitions, storytelling sessions, an antiques fair, musical shows, food attractions, book swapping and thrift stores. Full details will be released in the coming weeks.

The name change was confirmed after consultation with the Municipal Councils of Culture and Cultural Heritage. The festival is organized by the Foz do Iguaçu City Hall and the Cultural Foundation, aiming to promote culture and tourism, positioning the city as an important art scene in Paraná and Brazil.

Ruth Rocha, born in 1931 in São Paulo, is the author of more than two hundred titles published in twenty-five languages. Her book “Marcelo, Marmelo, Martelo” is one of the country's biggest publishing successes. In 2008 she was elected a member of the São Paulo Academy of Letters.
