The Elfrida Engel Nunes Rios Public Library offers a book exchange during the 21st International Book Fair of Foz do Iguaçu, from September 3 to 6, at Praça da Paz. Books in good condition can be swapped for other titles available at the event.
The initiative operates on specific hours: September 3 and 4 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., and September 5 and 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. This is the first time the institution is holding this activity during the fair.
Accepted items are general literature, children-youth books, comics, poetry and chronicles in good condition, clean and without missing or torn pages. Textbooks, workbooks, encyclopedias, magazines, newspapers or materials with incomplete or heavily damaged content are not allowed. Participants who bring a qualifying copy can choose another one available. No returns are offered after the exchange.
The activity also marks the library’s 63rd anniversary, officially celebrated on September 4 with a gathering of 100 children from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., featuring cake, theatrical performances and storytelling.
The 21st edition of the fair honors author Ruth Rocha, with a special set design at Praça da Paz inspired by her characters. More than 80 activities will take place over the four days: musical and circus performances, storytelling sessions, exhibitions, workshops and food stalls. The program includes singer Roberta Campos and authors such as Felipe Castilho, Cléo Busatto, Tino Freitas and Marina Hadlich. Minors under 17 cannot attend unaccompanied.
The event is organized by the Cultural Foundation and the Municipality of Foz do Iguaçu, with support from Itaipu Parquetec, Marco das 3 Fronteiras and Associação Onças do Bem.
