Foz do Iguaçu reaches 30% of public lighting in LED

City modernizes 12,280 luminaires in public-private partnership program
The city of Foz do Iguaçu, in Paraná, replaced 12,280 of the municipality’s 42,452 luminaires with LED technology, reaching almost 30% of the modernization. The Foz Cidade Iluminada Program, launched in May, already covers peripheral neighborhoods and the central area.
The lighting upgrade is part of a concession established through a public-private partnership. Work began in the Morumbi neighborhood and expanded to other areas.
The new luminaires have already been installed in: Jardim Universitário, Vila C Nova, Vila C Velha, Vila Portes, Jardim Jupira, Cidade Nova, Náutica, Porto Belo, Três Lagoas and part of Morumbi. Avenida Maria Bubiak, which connects different parts of the city, was also modernized. Currently, crews are working in Parque Presidente 2, Jardim Ana Cristina, Jardim Duarte, Jardim Canadá, Jardim Curitibano and Jardim Lancaster.
In the areas already modernized, energy consumption fell 48%. According to the City Hall, LED technology reduces electricity consumption by up to 60% and offers a service life of more than 60,000 hours. The municipal administration also notes an improvement in residents’ sense of security.
The concessionaire IP Foz do Iguaçu handles about one hundred daily maintenance requests. The company resolved approximately 15,000 requests with a resolution rate of 97.1%, serving 244 neighborhoods in the municipality.
