Foz hotels project 69% occupancy over July break, resorts reach 80%

Foz do Iguaçu sees a busy July even in winter. According to the bulletin from the Foz do Iguaçu Union of Hotels, Restaurants and Bars (Sindhotéis), average occupancy forecast for the school break — July 11 to 26 — reaches 69%, beating the 67% recorded in the same period last year.

Demand is driven by resorts, with a projected 80% occupancy, the segment most sought by families on holiday. Next come 4-star hotels (73%) and 3-star (72%). Five-star properties sit at 65% and 2-star at 53%.

The window overlaps the peak of the high season at the Triple Frontier: the winter break is the same on all three sides (Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay return to school on July 27), concentrating movement at the Falls, across the bridges and in the shops of Ciudad del Este and Puerto Iguazú.

What the history shows. Per the official series from the Municipal Tourism Secretariat (DVEET/SMTU), which Marco Três has tracked since 2019, July has closed above the projection in recent years: 72.5% in 2022, 76% in 2023, 74% in 2024 and 76.1% in 2025. So the Sindhotéis 69% projection for the holiday window leans conservative — if the pattern holds, July 2026 could finish fuller. That said, 2026 has been running slightly lower (June came in at 68.3%), which supports the union's caution.

When the closed July figure is published, Marco Três will compare the projection with the actual — as it already does with ANAC's numbers. That's the difference between repeating a forecast and verifying whether it holds.

An honest note: the figures are a union projection for the period, not a closed count. Even so, they confirm the trend of a strong July for the destination.
