High-stakes tournament with a $2,000 buy-in draws over 100 players from four countries
Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, will host the Iguazú Poker Tour from October 15 to 17, marking the return of high-level poker competition to the city after almost a decade. Organized by LL Eventos, the event will feature a High Roller with a $2,000 entry fee and $200,000 guaranteed prize pool.
The main schedule will take place at City Center Iguazú, with preliminary activities starting on October 13. The High Roller will begin on October 15 and run through the 17th, while the earlier days will be dedicated to satellites and other festival stages.
More than 100 players from Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay have already confirmed their attendance. According to the organizers, demand for accommodation exceeded initial expectations: the first 70 rooms booked sold out quickly, prompting the addition of 20 extra rooms at the Iguazú Grand, which also filled up, creating a waiting list.
Organizers estimate the event will involve over 300 people over the weekend, counting competitors accompanied by family and friends. High-roller tournament audiences typically stay in four- and five-star hotels, dine at restaurants and bars, and also visit natural attractions and local shops.
The tournament is led by the president of the Argentine Poker Federation. His background includes participation in the first World Series of Poker held in Argentina, the BSOP Iguazú in 2018 and 2019, WPT Argentina, and several High Roller events from 2017 to 2019. The organization already anticipates plans for a larger international event in 2027.
