City solidifies its role as a regional events and meetings destination
Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, will host the NATIVA LATAM 2026 international summit in September, bringing together experts from the Americas and around the world to discuss sustainable and regenerative tourism. The event underscores the growth of the city’s event tourism sector and the rise in international visitor flow.

The choice of Puerto Iguazú to host the summit reflects the city’s positioning as a sustainable destination, according to Leo Lucas, president of the Iguazú Municipal Tourism Agency (ITUREM). The event drives demand for lodging, gastronomy, meeting spaces, and specialized transportation, with a lasting impact when visitors extend their stay with companions.
The city actively participates in tourism-sector events. In early August, Puerto Iguazú showcased its offering at the Meet Up in Buenos Aires, in partnership with the provincial Tourism Ministry, the Posadas Bureau, and the Iguazú Bureau. The region positions itself as the National Capital of Biodiversity, with easy access via the airports of Posadas and Iguazú, as well as the Foz do Iguaçu airport as an alternative entry and exit point.
International visitor flow intensified after the winter vacation period ended. Iguazú National Park records a daily average of over 3,000 entries, with international tourism accounting for 50%-55% of total visitors, while domestic tourism makes up about 25%.
