Latinrieles Congress 21 Begins in Puerto Iguazú with Ecological Train

The opening took place at the Gran Meliá Hotel with speeches from Sergio Rojas, director of Rieles Group and congress organizer since 2006, José María Hervás, superintendent of Iguazú National Park, and Carol Da Rosa, general manager of Iguazú Argentina.

The Ecological Jungle Train, operated by Iguazú Argentina, transports more than 1.5 million passengers per year since its inauguration and is the train that has transported the most people in the country, accumulating nearly 30 million tourists. Da Rosa highlighted the importance of the train as a reference for sustainable transportation within a protected area.

The first lectures addressed investments to optimize returns, technologies such as monitoring radars, fault detection systems, and rail infrastructure. Marcelo Zuliani, technical representative of Iguazú Argentina, reported that participation in international congresses opened possibilities for improvements in the train's clean energy system, which currently has electric-powered formations and aspires to have compositions powered by solar energy.

Rojas commented that Latinrieles, held continuously since 2006, has become a reference not only in Argentina, but also in Chile, Peru, and Colombia. According to him, the transport capacity and impact of the Ecological Jungle Train equate it in relevance to major railway transport companies.

The congress continues with exhibitions and cocktail on September 4, and technical visit to the Ecological Jungle Train on September 5 in the morning. The event has 40 companies and institutions as sponsors and 22 as exhibitors.
