Foz do Iguaçu itinerary: 1, 2 and 3 days

Direct answer: One day covers the Brazilian falls, Parque das Aves and sunset at the Three Borders Landmark. Two days open room for the whole Argentine side. Three days add Itaipu or shopping in Paraguay. What breaks itineraries here is not distance: it is the Landmark closing on Mondays and shops in Ciudad del Este closing between 16:00 and 17:00.

Day 1: the Brazilian side

Everything sits on one road, Avenida das Cataratas, served by line 120 for R$ 5.

• Iguazu Falls, Brazilian side. Opens 9:00 on weekdays and 8:30 at weekends and holidays, last entry 16:00, closes 17:30. The first hour is the quietest. Ticket R$ 134, or R$ 121 on the Brazil and Mercosur rate.
• Parque das Aves, on the same avenue, 8:30 to 16:30, around R$ 110, a 1h30 to 2h visit.
• Three Borders Landmark in the late afternoon: Tuesday to Sunday, 14:00 to 21:00, R$ 60, with cultural shows in the early evening. Closed on Mondays.

Day 2: the Argentine side

Iguazú National Park opens at 8:00 and closes at 18:00, with last entry around 16:00. Three circuits plus the ecological train mean it needs the full day. Foreign visitors pay $60,000 pesos, with 50% off a second day if validated on the way out.

Note: the Devil's Throat walkway has been closed since 3 August 2026. The Upper and Lower circuits remain open.

The crossing decides the day: the measured peak on the Tancredo Neves bridge is 17:00 to 19:00, at +30 to +39 minutes on weekdays. Return before that, or after 20:30. See visiting the Argentine side and bridge queue.

Day 3: Itaipu or Paraguay

Itaipu: the Panoramic tour is R$ 63 and takes about 1h10; the Special Circuit is R$ 185, lasts 2h30 and admits ages 14 and up; the Ecomuseum is free; the Bela Vista Biological Refuge is R$ 48 and closes on Tuesdays. See visiting Itaipu.

Ciudad del Este: the commercial centre opens around 07:00 and closes between 16:00 and 17:00, Monday to Saturday. Crossing after lunch loses the afternoon. See documents for Ciudad del Este and the allowance calculator.

The ticket maths

The three-day itinerary adds up to between R$ 257 and R$ 367 per person in tickets, depending on whether Parque das Aves is included, and before optional tours such as Macuco Safari (R$ 384) and the helicopter flight (R$ 685). The full table is in how much a trip to Foz costs.

What does not change the plan

Rain. The park opens every day of the year and the walkways run in the rain. What rain cancels is the helicopter and the abseil. Plan B in what to do when it rains.
