Vessel with 250 seats has arrived in the city
A catamaran called Vencejo arrived in Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, and is awaiting authorization to operate. The boat, with three decks, a lounge, a bar and a terrace, aims to link the city’s port to the Iguaçu National Park.

The catamaran, with a capacity of 250 passengers, is already in Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, and is waiting for the necessary permits to begin sailing. The project, called Vencejo, was conceived by Iguazú Jungle and aims to connect the city’s port to a landing point inside the protected area, offering a tour experience beyond a simple transfer.
According to the president of Iturem, the boat was designed as a “luxury-category” alternative. The route would allow entry and exit from the National Park by river, while showcasing the river and jungle scenery. The president said the service could start in the coming months once adjustments and authorizations are completed. So far, no fares, schedules or sailing frequencies have been released.
The announcement comes amid the preventive closure of the Garganta del Diablo circuit, which remains shut due to river floods linked to the El Niño phenomenon. The park remains open on the Upper and Lower circuits, and other services are still available to visitors. The president highlighted that the protected area receives about 4,000 people per day, a figure considered positive for the season.
The project is part of a context of lower consumption and new hotel investments in the region. Despite the visitor flow, Iturem noted shorter stays and a drop in spending at restaurants and nightlife venues. The arrival of Brazilian day-trip tourists, who shop in local stores, partially offsets this trend but does not replace overnight stays.
Meanwhile, five hotels are under construction, with locally-backed projects and international brands such as Four Points by Sheraton and Marriott. Regarding flights, Puerto Iguazú receives between 17 and 18 daily services, peaking at 21 during high-season periods, mainly from domestic destinations like Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Rosario and Salta.
