Ciudad del Este records 163 buildings in six years

The vertical expansion in Ciudad del Este gained momentum starting in 2022. According to data from the private works division of the City Hall, obtained by the newspaper La Clave, growth was gradual: 16 buildings in 2020, 17 in 2021, then 26 in 2022. The following years maintained the dynamism — 29 in 2023 and 30 in 2024 (the peak so far). In 2025 there was a dip to 20 constructions, but 2026 already records 25 buildings, indicating a rebound in activity.

Housing demand drives this process. In 2025, 16 of the 20 approved buildings were exclusively residential or included apartments. The pattern repeats in 2026. Municipal records show designations such as "apartment building," "residential building" and "multifamily building." Each construction can house anywhere from a few units to dozens of apartments, amplifying the real impact on housing supply.

The map of new projects reveals a significant geographic shift. Although the downtown area still concentrates part of the activity, projects are spread across neighborhoods like Boquerón, Ciudad Nueva, San José, Pablo Rojas, Catedral, Área 1, San Isidro, Santa Ana and San Juan. Expansion also moves westward, with records in the corridors of kilometers 8, 9 and 10 (Monday and Acaray). Vertical construction has ceased to be a phenomenon limited to central renewal and now follows urban growth in new residential and commercial hubs.
