Foz do Iguaçu invests in paid social media advertising

The campaign will run through the @fozdestinodomundo profile, managed by the Directorate of Promotion, Digital Marketing and Events of Tourism (DIME). The ads will be targeted to four major national markets, selected based on studies by the Department, data from the Division of Tourism Studies and Statistics (DVEET) and analysis of the municipality’s social‑media performance.

According to Petterson Gherlandi, director of Promotion, Digital Marketing and Events of Tourism, the strategy aims to reach travelers who plan and purchase trips independently, without intermediaries. The initiative complements work already done at events, fairs and commercial actions in the sector, closing a communication loop with different traveler profiles-from those who book agency packages to those who organize everything on their own.

The rollout of paid ads comes after a period of growth for Foz do Iguaçu’s tourism promotion social media channels. The Municipal Tourism Department had already participated in events and commercial actions to bring the destination closer to operators and travel agents. With paid traffic, the goal is to supplement that work with direct communication to potential visitors.
